Nathan Singh

Nathan is a director whose work includes theatre, opera, and site-specific performance. 

He received an MFA in Directing from The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago where he recently directed the Chicago premier of WIG OUT! by Tarell Alvin McCraney. Theatre School credits include: THE CHILDREN's HOUR, NEXT FALL, THE GREAT GOD PAN, WOMEN and IN THE BLOOD. 

Other theatre productions include: SERPENTINE PINK at the Son of Semele Theatre Creation Festival,  SCAR TISSUE at Company of Angels (published in Best American Short Plays of 2010-2011), LIKE A DOG IN SPACE at the Blank Theatre Company’s Young Playwright’s Festival, SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE at Musical Theatre Repertory at USC, and a reading of THE SWEETNESS OF YOU at Playwright’s Arena.

Site-specific works include: DAY’S PAY for Moveable Piece at the Hollywood Fringe Festival and FLASH THEATRE: GO THY WAY WITH JOY for Playwrights’ Arena.

 

Opera works include:  AMERICA TROPICAL for the Autry National Center, La Plaza de Culturas y Artes on Olvera St, and USC Vision and Voices. SHIPWRECK for the Definiens Project and USC Spectrum. 


He recently assisted Seret Scott on a production of ELECTRA at the Court Theatre. He has also assisted Michael Rohd on WILLFULL and Laurie Woolery on THE TENTH MUSE at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Nancy Keystone on the first workshop of AMERYKA at Critical Mass Performance Group, and Jon Lawrence Rivera on OEDIPUS EL REY at The Theatre @ Boston Court.

 

Nathan is a graduate of the USC School of Dramatic Arts and is a recipient of the 2016 SDCF.Sir John Cielgud Fellowship in Directing.
